Automated SMS Messages
You can create automated SMS messages either through the message section or as part of a workflow. Creating automated SMS messages in the message section is similar to creating manual SMS messages. You will walk through a series of steps to complete your text message. The first step, similar to the email compose step, involves creating your message. You will need a Title and Message in order to save and continue. Your Marketing Service will be preselected in your account (this includes all your SMS phone numbers you can send from). As in emails, you can use saved contact data as variable content in your SMS message, along with fallback values. At the bottom of the compose window you will also see a checkbox to "Include Opt-out Instructions."
Because an automated SMS needs to be added to a workflow in order to deploy, there is no action needed on the Recipient step. Like with automated emails, automated SMS default to allowing a contact to only receive the message once, however you can change the contact frequency to custom or no limit (be very careful when choosing this option!). On the send step you will be able to activate your automated SMS message as long as there are no pending errors. Once an automated SMS is activated, you will also be able to view details of the send on the Summary page (again, similar to how data is displayed on an email).
SMS can also be dragged onto the canvas in a workflow. As with emails, you can search for existing SMS messages to add to the canvas or create your SMS message directly on the workflow.
SMS Keyword Trigger
You can also set up incoming keywords to trigger events in a workflow by using a SMS Keyword Trigger.
