Bulk Update

 

The Bulk Update tool has been replaced by the ability to bulk update in Query Builder and on Contacts Search. On a list of contacts, either in the Search Contacts tab or the Query Builder tab of the Contacts section, just above the list of contacts from your search results, you will now find a Bulk Update icon . As with the other icons in the menu click the icon first, without selecting any contacts, will apply your changes to the full set of results. Checking specific contacts before clicking the button will apply your changes only to those contacts you have selected.

After finding the contacts you wish to bulk update, click the icon. Hovering over the icon will show you the amount of contacts which will be updated.



On the next screen you will find a selector. First choose the field you want updated. Then, choose what you want that field updated with. That can be a value you type in or you can choose to update one field with a value from another field. In both instances you are confined to data type and settings for field types. For example, you cannot overwrite a custom text field that has a max value of 40 with a field with a max value of 400 or with a numerical field. If you have a mismatch, you will receive an error.



Click Continue. When updating contacts in bulk you will receive a warning and a confirmation to proceed. Click Yes, Apply Update to complete your action. If you are updating a small number of contacts you should see a success message fairly quickly. If you are bulk updating a much larger list, you will be given a status of the update. You can pause this status at any time and then close or resume (NOTE: closing does not reset any contacts who have already been updated). If you leave the screen for any reason, the update will be interrupted and the process will not finish.
