Making a Copy of a Message

View a walk-through of Copying an Email in the emfluence ClickLearn section here.

There are many applications for the Copy a Message function in the Platform. For example:

  • You'd like to forward a Sent message to a new group of recipients
  • You'd like to try something different with the content or formatting of the email, but you don't want to alter the original draft.
  • You're sending to the Return Path Seed list, and your recipient list is less than 10,000.  Sending a Copy of your message to the Seed List will ensure that your results are skewed by ~600 non-openers.

Whatever the reason, making a copy of a Draft of a Sent message is simple.  If you want to make a copy of a Sent message, start by going to your Sent messages and find the email you’d like to forward.  To the left of the message title you’ll see two square icons.  The first will tell you which template this message was composed in, and the second is a “Copy” button:

Click to copy the message, leave it as your user (or assign it to another user if you are a Client Admin), and then choose whether you want the copy of your email to be either automated or manual. If you need to change the type, you can choose to make an automated copy of a manual email or a manual copy of an automated email. Finally, click Save in the pop-up modal to confirm.

You also have the ability to create a copy on the summary page of the sent email.

The copy is now in your Drafts, and you can get directly to it by following the prompt or edit it at a later date within the draft tab (for a manual draft) or the automated tab (for an automated draft).

Once a copy is made, you can immediately start editing it. You first may want to edit your title line to be more distinct than the original email's tile with the word (Copy) at the end.

Go through the rest of the send process like you would any other email!
