Manual and Automated Messages
There are two types of emails that can be created in the emfluence Marketing Platform. A Manual Email or an Automated Email.
A Manual Email is sent to one group of recipients at one single date and time. This is sometimes referred to as an email "blast," because you are sending one email out to many subscribers all at once.
An Automated Email is triggered by the action of a subscriber being added to a specific contact group. In the emfluence Platform, an Automated Email can be tied to a specific contact group; for example: A Welcome email is tied to the Email Subscribers group. Therefore, when a new contact is added to the Email Subscribers group, they receive your Welcome Email. Contacts can be added to groups manually, via a data sync, or from an online form. The Welcome Email example would look like this:
An online sign-up form feeds the Newsletter Subscribers group
This group is tied to an Active Automated Email, with no time delay specified
If you wanted to set up an onboarding nurture series, you would have the webform feed several groups, each with its own automated email set to deploy at a different delay. For example, the welcome email would have no delay, the next email would have a delay of 1 week, the next a delay of 2 weeks, etc. As long as the Automated email is active, it will deploy to any contacts who are added to its corresponding group.
