Needed Prior to SMS Setup

emfluence uses Twilio for SMS sending. If you are interested in sending SMS messages through your emfluence account, we'll need some information from you. Much of this will be given to us when you fill out the SMS Survey. We will also need a signed addendum to your contract in order to enable SMS within your account.

While all your activity will be in emfluence, and you will never sign directly in to Twilio, we will need to set up a customer profile, a messaging service, one or more phone numbers, and a campaign all within Twilio. Information you will need for the SMS Survey to provide emfluence includes the following (there may be additional information emfluence or Twilio may reach out to finish your setup):

  • • Your US EIN (Tax ID). If you are not a US company or don't have an EIN, Twilio will likely require alternate information which may take longer set up your account as basic setup requires this at the beginning for a customer profile.
  • • Specific use case for your campaigns and SMS messages. Twilio will require details about what kinds of messaging will be sent over their API and specific examples of each message type. You can find more about the type of examples they are looking for here and here.
  • • The number and type (toll-free or local numbers) you wish to have in your account. If local numbers are needed, the area code(s) would also need to be provided.
  • • Detailed explanation on how you acquire consent for those opting in to SMS messaging.

NOTE: With providers cracking down on spam, the process for getting approval for first a sub account than a specific campaign use case can now take weeks to complete. If you are planning on adding SMS to your account we suggest starting early to get confirmed well before the time you are planning to send.
