Example Queries
To help get you started using Query Builder we have created some of the most common types of queries you may wish to use in the emlfuence Marketing Platform. These include Birthday, Active/Inactive, Location, and @Email Domains. Each of these can be further modified to meet your needs. When you click into Query Builder you will see the Example Queries at the top of the page under the Source Group selection which can be hidden or expanded as you need them. After choosing a Source Group (the group of contacts you want to search), you can click on any of the four example queries.
Birthday Queries
If you hover over Birthday you will see multiple options allowing you to search for results from inside your Source Group whose birtday is today, in seven days, or this month. We also give you a Half-Birthday option for those whose birthday is exactly six-months away.
Running Birthday today will create you a two-part Match ALL criteria search matching both the birthday month and birthday day you have saved for your contacts in their contact record. You will notice Birthday in 7 days will give you a similiar query with a relative day date of 7 days to both the day and month (this allows for people whose birthday is near the beginning of the next month). You can modify these as needed but you will want to keep the relative days the same for both Date of Birth (Day only) and Date of Birth (Month only).
Active/Inactive
The active/inactive example queries allow you to search quickly for contacts that have either been have been opening your emails over the past 6 or 12 months or those that have not. Choosing Inactive in the last 6 months you will find a query that is searching for contacts who were added prior to 6 months ago (because for the purpose of finding inactive users we aren't concerned with looking for newer contacts) AND whose Last Email Activity Date was Before six months (meaning that haven't opened in the last six months) OR whose Last Email Activity Date Is Blank (meaning they have never opened). You will notice that this is an advanced query with the criteria #2 and criteria #3 nested under your first criteria.
Location Queries
Your example pre-set Location queries allow you to search Country, State, and Zip Codes. For Zip Code we offer the option to match a single Zip Code, a Zip Code Range, or a Zip Code List. A Zip Code List allows you to simply list out each Zip Code you wish included. A Zip Code range allows you so search for all Zip Codes between two sets of numbers.
Email Domain
The Email Domain example queries allos you to search for all contact records in your search group from either one, or multiple domains (ex: Gmail, Yahoo!, etc.).
Creating your own Queries
If none of the pre-set queries meet your needs you have the ability to create your own queries from scratch by using either the Match ALL criteria or Match ANY criteria, or creating Advanced Queries.
