Although the from name and address displayed in the email will be those set up in your account, emails delivered from emfluence's mail server will use the mail from and return path of bounces@emailer.emfluence.com. That is the envelope, or outer wrapper, of the email. Bounce backs to that address allow us to properly report bounces on every email send.
Because we are sending from our email server, not the client's, we cannot send using their envelope address. However, if the client wishes, we can tie a custom return path address to their sending domain. Once in place, when sending through emfluence, this new custom return-path address will be used for this sending domain. That sending domain would be emfl-bounces.{sendingdomain} with the latter half filled in with the client's domain. The steps for setting up and using this method are listed below:
