How to Create a Landing Page

View a walk-through of Creating a Landing Page in the emfluence ClickLearn section here.

While in the Page section, click on New Page to create a new landing page with the emfluence Marketing Platform.

Before you can proceed you will be asked to choose which editor you wish. If your account has current branded templates, you will find those in the Template section (if you have no branded landing page templates the option will not be available). Selecting Drag and Drop will lead you to create a new page in the Landing Page Drag & Drop editor NOTE: You may need to request this option be activated in your account. The Paste in Code option will create a blank page allowing you to paste in your code and then edit the page within the standard editor.

If you have custom templates you will be able to select them under the Template selecion. Select a custom-branded landing page template or select one of the default page templates. Click Next.  (Default HTML, mobile and Facebook tab landing pages are available to all accounts. If you’d like emfluence to create a custom landing page, please contact your Account Representative.)

If you are using the Drag and Drop, you will have a chance to begin with a selection of starter Themes or start from scratch with a blank template.

Basic Page Information

Whatever editor you are using to create your page, there is information you will want to input prior to composing the page itself. This information is at the top of the Compose page under Basic Page Information.

Required information for your page includes an internal Title (to find your page within the emfluence Platform), an HTML Title (the text that will appear in your brower's tab), an internal description field (which is visible only inside the platform), and a Failure URL. We always suggest using a Failure URL so if the page ever gets deactivated the contact will be redirected to the link of your choice rather than ending up on a deactivated page. You can now also add an account-wide Failure URL to your landing pages. If no Failure URL is selected for a page, this URL will be used. Previous functionality allowing you to apply a specific URL to a specific landing pages is still supporting and will overwrite this default value.

You also have option to add Meta Tags (if you want your page to be more visible online). More information about Meta Tags can be found both here and here.

Page URL

When you create a landing page a default URL will be created. If you plan embed the landing page within an iframe or a modal, you may not need more than the hostedlandingpages URL. If, however, you do want more branding options there are two options available to you. The first requires minimal set-up within the platform while the other does require a subdomain to be set-up on your end and point to our landing pages. Both options are covered in more detail here.

Landing Page

Creating a page within a branded landing page or by choosing the Paste & Code section will load the standard editor. Like emails, branded templates will have set bodyslots to add content. The Paste in Code option will load the editor in code mode, but you can toggle back to the full editor after pasting in your code (some code may change slightly by doing so, if you don't want to risk this you should chose to leave the editor in the code view). Click here for more information on how to use the standard editor. Click here for more on composing a landing page.

Response Page

Response Page will only be available if you have a form on your page, otherwise the step will be greyed-out. A page with a form needs to reload when the submit button is clicked. You can either paste in a link under Use Existing URL or you have a Create a Page option where you will be able to create the response page. If you are using a Drag & Drop option, you will have the ability to copy your page (keeping all the settings from your original page) for your response page (just remember to remove your form on the response page). Click here for more information about Response Pages.

Settings & Publish

The Settings step allows you to control who has access to the page within the emfluence Marketing Platform. By default, Client Admins will be given access. If you want Restricted or Non-Restricted Users to have access, you will need to check the box next to their name.

Just like forms and Surveys, Landing Pages are inactive by default. Remember to activate the page prior to saving for the URL to become available. You also have the option to put in a date range under Active Dates to control when the page is active. If you chose to use these remember that your page will automatically be deactivated when the date range ends.
