May 2025 - Social Verification Date |
In the Managed Accounts list view, you’ll now see a “Last Verified Date” column, making it easier to track when each account was last verified. Since changes to the social network—like new rollouts or expired verification tokens—can require re-verification, we recommend verifying accounts regularly to avoid any data gaps.
![]() |
May 2025 - Email Size |
The email size feature, which has always shown the HTML size (minus images), will now show the combined size for all images in an email and the total size including both images and HTML. NOTE: For image size to be calculated, all images in your email must originate from your account. A previous feature rollout also added the individual image sizes to the Image & Link checker found on the Preview step.

![]() |
January 2025 - Reference Static Groups used in Dynamic Groups |
Any Dynamic Group using a Static Group as its Source Group provides a notation on the Static Group to let you know it's part of that query. We've expanded this notation for any Static Group being used in any part of the query for a Dynamic Group (not just as a Source Group) to display the group information within the Static Group.

Inactive logins (those without a login since 6/21/2024) have had their password removed as a security measure. The user still exists, with their same permissions, and has not been deactivated. In the original email, under Recipients, you can use any criteria to determine the new list (example: Clicks No). After determining your list, you can click the Resend icon above your results. This will create a new version of your email and a new group from those selected. You can then make changes (if necessary) to the new copy or go straight to scheduling it to deploy. emfluence has made it easier for you to confirm that your sending domains are passing DMARC (needed for Gmail and Yahoo! going forward) as well as DKIM (needed to properly sign all of your messages). In the Options menu, under Account Settings > Sending Domains, you will see all domains set up for use within your account with a checker for both DKIM and DMARC. You can find more about DKIM records here and DMARC records here. NOTE: If you are a long-standing emfluence client and still using the older 'emfluence' DKIM record, that will not show as passing under this check.

In the Template Builder, we've also added the ability to tag templates with new 'Template Categories' and added that as a filter when selecting a template for an email as well.

![]() |
October 2023 - Query Reference |
Editing a custom field type can have ramifications if that custom field is being used in a query. If the type of field is changed in a way that the modifiers used in your query can no longer function, your query could stop working. To try and prevent that from occurring, we've added Query References. When you click into a custom field under Options, you will find these references to every dynamic group, workflow decision, and exit condition where that field is currently being used. We've also updated the warning message to include a line if the field is being used in any query within the platform.
![]() |
October 2023 - Saving QR Codes |
We've added a couple of new options for saving QR codes. The first is a download button to make it easy to download the code to your own computer as a png, jpg, or svg file. When searching through your existing QR codes, you can filter out archived codes using the QR Code Status dropdown to show only active codes.
NOTE: Deleting the QR Code will not remove it from your Uploaded Files if you have chosen to save a copy of it there. Learn more about QR Codes here.
![]() |
October 2023 - Contact Deletion |
To stay compliant with GDPR and other privacy regulations, when a contact is deleted their data must be permanently anonymized. However, to help you avoid this situation where you might accidentally delete a contact, we have added a step that forces you to acknowledge you are permanently deleting a contact by typing 'DELETE' to confirm. This feature has always been in place with suppressed contacts, but now is in place with all contacts when deleting from a group or list of search results. We've also updated the icon in the Group Membership tab of a contact record to make it more obvious that it removes contacts from groups rather than deleting them.
![]() |

![]() |
August 2023 - List Cleanse Updates |
After noticing some clients forgetting to take action on their cleanse results, emfluence has made some changes to list cleanses. Going forward, anything returned in the Bad category (which includes undeliverable addresses and potentially dangerous blacklisted addresses) will now be held automatically for you. We still recommend manually checking your results.
A second feature we've added is to save and display details of a cleanse on a contact's record. If a contact has been included in a cleanse, you will find a notation above the Suppressed and Held statuses with both a date and what category (high, medium, low, or bad) the contact came back with.
![]() |
August 2023 - Create New Group on a Form |
When using either the "Add to Group" or "Remove from Group" feature on a form, we've added the ability to create a new group during those steps. You still have the ability to choose an existing group from the dropdown menu.

![]() |

April 2023 - User Changes |
If you've created new users recently, you might have noticed some additional options. Now you can choose a Standard User (what used to be called "Unrestricted User") and a Notifications-Only User. A Notifications-Only User would be the user type to assign someone who needs to receive notification emails (survey response notifications, scheduled reports, etc.) but doesn't need to log into the platform.
NOTE: Beginning May 5th, only users will able to continue to receive these types of emails and anyone needing to receive them must be a user. For those not needing further access other than controlling their own notifications, they can be created as Notifications-Only Users.
![]() |
April 2023 - Queue Automated Recipients for Another Email |
Have you ever added emails to the end of a workflow after contacts had already completed their journey and needed to push them to the next email in a series? Or needed to manually push them to an email in a separate series? We've made it considerably easier to do so by adding the 'Add Contacts to Automated Emails' button to existing automated emails. The option works the same way it does in the Contacts section by allowing you to choose and copy the list of contacts to another automated email.
![]() |
April 2023 - Reverse Column Stacking Order |
emfluence has added an option in the drag-and-drop editor to control the stacking order on two-column layouts. The options allow you to use the template default, force a left over right, or force a right over left option on each column. You can find more information about this feature here.
NOTE: It is possible custom-coded templates could break this feature.
![]() |

The views report, which can be found on the report download on the summary page of an email, can now be downloaded.
![]() |
February 2023 - Link Tracking Changes |
Based on feedback from clients on link tracking, we've made a change to how it works in emails. Now, rather than including the full URL string in the email (which could contain fragments, non-standard characters, query string parameters, variables, etc. within the URL), we've replaced it with a coded value. This is a common practice in bulk sending and you should see more consistent results in link tracking as well as fewer opportunities for these to break the URL when redirected.
![]() |
February 2023 - Create Users on Landing Page Response Pages |
We've now added a "Create New User" button on landing page response pages, survey response options, and on the client reporting page. You can quickly create a user and add them to the notification email list without having to leave the page, survey, or report you are working on.

February 2023 - Delivery Status Added for SMS on Contact Detail Page |
We have added a status tag at the bottom of all SMS messages which will allow you to see whether the message is in progress, was delivered, or failed.

January 2023 - List Cleanse |
List cleansing or list verification is a good way to keep your list up to date and find and scrub out old addresses that are no longer active as well as identify potentially dangerous addresses such as spam traps. emfluence has now integrated the process into the platform. This can be done with any list of contacts. There is a cost for using this feature which you will be informed of prior to running the list. You can immediately take action on the different subsets of your results after the cleanse is finished by using the bulk update tool. You can find more about the process here.

January 2023 - emfluence Forms Writing to Dataverse Picklists |
If you are using the emfluence Dataverse integration to connect to a CRM such as Microsoft Dynmaics or RapidStart, we have now made a change to allow data on an emfluence form entry to write back to CRM if that field is a picklist (as long as the value or label on your form matches what is in your CRM).

January 2023 - Pagination on SMS Reports |
When viewing their own user profile, a user now has the ability to view their login history by clicking on the icon next to their Last Login date. The modal will contain the date, IP address, browser, and operating system of recent logins.

January 2023 - Login History |
We've simplified Social Media permissions in emfluence and removed the Social Contributor permission. The Social Admin remains, and can be given to those users who need to manage social accounts. December 2022 - Google Analytics ID Field Added |
The new GA4 property ID has been added to Google Analytics Tracking within emfluence. You will find it at the bottom of list. A separate project has begun to allow users to connect their Google Analytics 4 account into emfluence (the way you can with your current GA account).

December 2022 - Support for International Characters on Landing Pages |
International characters such as Russian, Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, and Chinese are now all supported on landing page content as well as the page title and meta tags. NOTE: Forms will still only save Western characters to the contact record.

December 2022 - Refactoring Social Permissions |
We've simplified Social Media permissions in emfluence and removed the Social Contributor permission. The Social Admin remains, and can be given to those users who need to manage social accounts. Rather than have a separate permission for those to see/post to social accounts, that ability is now controlled solely by the individual social account in question (Twitter, Instagram, etc.). If the non-Social Admin is given access to the individual account (for example, Twitter), they will have access to that account and no longer need the contributer permission.
![]() |
December 2022 - Google Analytics Validation Update |
When you validate Google Analytics to emfluence we save the confirmation code. Newer, longer codes were getting truncated. This has now been fixed. If you reverify your GA again, you should see it stay connected.

October 2022 - Reason for Unsubscribing Added to Unsubscribe Page |
We have added a Preference Page within the Options menu which will allow you to create a list of unsubscribe reasons offered to contacts who decide to opt out of your emails. We've provided a default set of reasons, but you can edit, add to, remove, or rearrange the choices available. Reasons chosen for unsubscribing by contacts will be saved in the new Reason for Unsubscribing Report.

October 2022 - Notification Project |
There are several places within emfluence where you can set up notification emails to be sent out after something occurs. As part of a larger notification project, emfluence has begun refactoring how those work in the platform to eventually get them grouped together for easy access/control by the user. As part of this project, you may have noticed differences in setting up notifications to users on both surveys and landing pages with more changes to come.

You can rearrange and hide various sections of the dashboard that aren't relevant to your user.

September 2022 - Data on how Contacts are added |
Going forward, when hovering over the added date on a contact record you will find a code letting you know how that contact got added to your emfluence account. NOTE: This data is only available for contacts moving forward, this data is not available on contacts added before this feature was implemented.
Contacts can be added directly through the platform (APP:SAVE), through a manual import (APP:IMPORT), through the contacts/save endpoint (API:SAVE) or contacts/import (API:IMPORT) of emfluence's API, through a a landing page conversion (LANDINGPAGE:SAVE), through an import from Dynamics (DYNAMICS:IMPORT), or through an import from a FTP Data Sync (DATASYNC:IMPORT). More information for some calls will be provided if available.

September 2022 - Copy Deleted Users |
For client admins, we have added the ability to copy a deleted user. Now if you accidentally delete a user you can copy that user (assigning the same permissions they originally had). As with all new users, the user will receive an invitation to set up their new password. You may also want to transfer emails, groups, and contacts owned by the old user to the new one via the "Transfer Ownership" option available in System Users.

September 2022 - Modification to Date Picker |
Sometimes the smallest changes can make a difference. We have reset "Subtract" as the default choice on modifying date in Query Builder.

August 2022 - Introducing The Library |
The Library now allows emfluence users to save content created inside the Drag & Drop Editor for later use. Like content blocks, Library Items can be saved and dropped within a future email. The new Library Items also will save Drag & Drop elements (i.e. a social widget with the color, size, and links you want included, a layout including multiple elements such as text elements, buttons, images, and more!). A separate Library is also available for Landing Pages. For more on the Library, click here.

August 2022 - Ignore Black Values on Import |
By default, any data you give us on an import for a contact already in emfluence will be overwritten. This includes overwriting current data with a blank value. We've added an option on a manual import where you can choose to ignore blank values, which if checked, will not overwrite any existing data with a blank or empty value.

August 2022 - Podcast Icon Added |
Podcast has been added to the list of Social URLs in your Account Settings and the podcast icon (available in the same variation of sizes and colors as the other social networks) is now included on the social element inside the Drag & Drop Editor.
![]() |
August 2022 - Login History |
We've made an addition to the user record where a user can see their login history. Client Admins within emfluence can see the login history for all users within their account. Clicking the icon next to Last Login will open a pop-up with the available login history for that user including date, IP, browser, and operating system for each login.

August 2022 - SMS Inbox Improvements |
The SMS Inbox allows you to see when a contact has replied back to your number. For clients with multiple messaging services, we've now listed more detail for these messages along with the name and number of the messaging service they have replied to.When viewing the SMS column on a contact's record, you can now reply directly to them (as long as SMS is enabled in your account and your user has the proper permissions). If a contact is receiving communications from multiple numbers/messaging services in your account, you can change the messaging service at the bottom to respond from the appropriate number.

July 2022 - Date & Picklists Added to Dynamics Integration |
Changes in our Microsoft Dataverse Integration now allow you to map a datetime field (as long as the values of that field are set to include only date) to a date field in emfluence.
We've also made a change to allow a picklist field in Dynamics to map to a text field within emfluence.
![]() |
July 2022 - Reporting Updates |
Owner has now been added as a sortable column in search results. Along with title, date, and other metrics, an email's subject line has now been added as a sortable column in the download available in the reporting section.
![]() |
July 2022 - Increased Bot Protection |
emfluence continues to work to try and identify and remove known bot activity from your results. We have recently flagged Google AppEngine bots and will remove those false positives going forward. If you become aware of activity you believe may be caused by bots rather than actual contacts, please reach out to support@emfluence.com with as much detail as possible.

July 2022 - Picklists |
On text fields, you can now create a set of picklist values for those fields. This allows you to limit what can be written to that field to a set of specific values you determined on the custom field.
![]() |
July 2022 - Two-Factor Authentication |
Building on several recent security updates (including trusted devices), users now have the ability to turn on two-factor authentication if they choose. In the security options of your user profile, you can enable two-factor authentication. Once activated, you will be required to confirm your identity by supplying a code sent to the email address tied to your user any time you log into the platform from an untrusted/new device. On a trusted device, you will be required to verify less often, but you will sometimes still need to verify with two-factor authentication.
![]() |
May 2022 - Landing Pages Added to Workflows |
You will now notice a landing page icon that can be dragged onto the workflow canvas. Only pages with a form on them can process contacts forward, but you can now connect the page directly to another node (such as a delay or message) separately from the groups being saved on the form itself. You can learn more about this here.
![]() |
May 2022 - Trusted Devices |
If you have logged into your account in the last week you have probably noticed the prompt to save a trusted device for your user. You are not required to save a trusted device, but if you choose to do so we will record that device with the name you choose (something like a combination of location and browser) and can then warn you if we see logins from devices other than those you have trusted.
If you choose not to set trusted devices you will be notified every time your user logs in. With trusted devices, you will only be notified when your user logs in from an unknown device. Your trusted devices will be stored on your user record under the security section along with the IP, browser, and operating system tied to that trusted device record.

May 2022 - SMS Added to the Reporting Dashboard |
Manual and automated SMS sends have been added to the web report, email report, and download in the reporting section. Don't have SMS yet? Learn more about it here.

May 2022 - Bulk Update |
The Bulk Update tool was one of the older pieces of the emfluence Marketing Platform. We've removed it and added that functionality to Contact Search and Query Builder results. Now you can bulk update contacts directly from your search results.
By clicking on the bulk update icon you can update a value of the chosen contact records by either typing a new static value or by using a value in another compatible field. As with the old bulk update tool, you can also use this method to assign content blocks to your content variables. And now you can also bulk suppress contacts via this method as well. You can find more about bulk update here.

April 2022 - Contact History Added in Preview/Proof Pickers |
We've added a recent history to both the "preview as" and the "send proof" contact pickers on the Preview step. This will remember the contacts you recently previewed as or sent a proof to in your browser. Now you will see recent selections shown and can select those contacts from the list.
![]() |
April 2022 - User-Controlled API Tokens |
It's been a long time coming, but now users have the ability to create and manage their own access tokens. They can also add a description for the token's use case. Every token is specifically tied back to a single user, so that user's permissions will impact what can be done by the token and if the user is deleted the token will no longer function. Learn more about creating and managing API Tokens here.

April 2022 - SMS Added to Campaigns |
SMS messages can now be added to campaigns. Like emails, the SMS can be added to a campaign on the individual message or in bulk in the Campaigns section.

March 2022 - User Updates |
Feedback
emfluence is continuing to make updates to users. The latest change involves how users get deleted. Deleted users will still disappear from logins and active user lists, but will continue to exist in the platform. Going forward, you will find deleted users listed below all active users in list like the Owner filter for sent emails. You will have the choice to reassign their content to a different user, or if you want to keep a more historical perspective, keep their records attached to the now-deleted user.
![]() |
March 2022 - IP & User Agent Added to Email Reporting |
On the Recipients Report for a sent email, in the Link Tracking, you will now find both IP and User Agent added to the data incorporated in your reporting. While this might not be immediately useful to you, it may be helpful if you identify IPs or user agents which are responsible for a cluster of false clicks.
![]() |
March 2022 - Recipients Report Update |
We've updated both the Recipients Report and the download to now include the number of views and clicks a contact made on an individual email.

January 2022 - Apple Mail Opens |
The new updates from Apple allow Apple Mail users to block tracking pixels. To block tracking, Apple is automatically downloading images to a proxy server for every message received by an Apple mail client that has the privacy setting activated. The result of this is that email view rates are being overstated. The update we are deploying will filter out email views triggered from the specific User/Agent responsible for the downloads.
What should you expect? You have probably noticed a significant increase in email view rates over the prior several weeks. Email view rates should reduce and be more in line with typical email view rates.

December 2021 - Redesign of emfluence Forms |
If you have built an emfluence form lately, you may have noticed we've modernized the look of form builder. All the functionality is still there but now with a sleeker design.
![]() |
December 2021 - Resubscription Option on Landing Pages |
If a contact in your account is suppressed but they fill out one of your emfluence web forms, what should happen? We will update the contact information provided on the form, but on the response page you can decide whether or not the contact should remain suppressed. You can either allow the contact to remain suppressed, or if this form is acting as a new sign-up, allow the contact to be unsuppressed.
![]() |
December 2021 - Compose on Calendar |
When dragging out a new email or SMS (if it is enabled in your account) and creating a new message, you now have the option to either save and close after filling out the basic information necessary to save a draft on the calendar, or save and edit. Clicking save and edit will launch the compose step and allow you to compose your email without needing to re-click the draft on the calendar.
![]() |
December 2021 - Source Group Shown |
We've added some information on a group to show you if it is being used as the source group for a dynamic group. When you click into a static group, if the group is being used as the source group for any dynamic groups in your account you will now find those listed under the Details section (and can click through to those groups).
![]() |
December 2021 - Email Recipients Over Time |
Now available in the Reporting dropdown, you can find an Email Recipients Over Time Report. This will allow you to set a date range (for up to 90 days) and download a report of all emails sent during that period, including the type of email (manual, automated, or transactional), the date sent, and the email address of each recipient.
![]() |
November 2021 - Email Counts Tied to Owner |
We have updated email recipients to be based off the owner of the email rather than the user creating the email to better mirror what the actual recipient list will look like. If the owner does not have access to the group the user (who may have access to all groups) is trying to attach to the email, they will not be able to save the group as part of their recipients.
![]() |
November 2021 - Added Additional Suppressed Information on the Contact Record |
We've added columns for complained and suppresssed on the Emails tab of a contact record making it easier for you to recognize on which sent email a contact may have complained or unsubscribed.
![]() |
November 2021 - Connect Workflow Custom Decisions to Each Other |
We have updated decisions in workflows to allow you to chain together custom decisions. A custom decision can also follow an open or click decision (both of those decisions, since they are based on email activity, still need to follow an email).
![]() |
October 2021 - BCC in Email |
We've gotten requests over the years to add the ability to BCC on emails sent through the emfluence Marketing Platform. Now it's here! You can now choose to BCC a copy of each email in a send to a specific email address for compliance purposes, auditing, or third-party integrations. NOTE: Be careful with this feature as it will double your send volume. For example, if you send an email to 30,000 recipients, the BCC address will also be sent 30,000 emails, bringing your total send volume to 60,000. Also, any engagement by the BCC address (view, click, unsubscribe, bounce, etc.) will be applied to the metrics of the email and will be reflected on the corresponding contact's record.

October 2021 - SMS Updates |
emfluence continues to expand its new SMS offering. New features include adding SMS sent messages and incoming replies to the contact timeline and allowing client admins to change the owner of an unsent SMS message. October 2021 - Email Metrics Over Time |

![]() |
October 2021 - Domain Reporting in Groups |
Along with contacts growth and sent email reporting, group reporting now also includes domain reporting giving you a hard count of addresses per domain in that group and also a percentage of the total for the top 25 domains in the group.

September 2021 - SMS Updates |
emfluence continues to expand its new SMS offering. ![]() |
September 2021 - Change Owner of an Email |
If you have ever needed to send someone else's email for them, you know by doing so you become the new owner of the email. With this change, emfluence no longer resets the owner by default (it will remain the original owner of the email unless you choose to change it) AND client admins also have the ability to alter the owner on any unsent message to a different user (which will reset the contact and groups settings to only those the owning user has access to).
![]() |
September, 2021 - reCAPTCHA on Surveys |
Now like forms, we've added a reCAPTCHA option for surveys. In the "Options" tab of a survey, you can now add a reCAPTCHA which will appear on the bottom of the first page of your survey. As with reCAPTCHA on a form, you will have the same optional settings: Light or Dark Theme and Normal or Compact Size.
![]() |
September 2021 - Randomly Split Contacts on Workflow Decisions |
You can use any numeric field and the "Odd/Even" operator to force contacts into different paths on a workflow by choosing the "Yes" path for either "Odd" or "Even" (with the alternate going down the "No" path). In case you don't have a custom field or values saved to use in this manner, we've added "ContactID" to Query Builder, which can be queried on as a numeric field in either a Dynamic Group or a Worfklow Custom Decision. When every contact is created, they are assigned a numeric ContactID and now you can use that as a data point to search from. NOTE: The use of ContactID does not guarantee you a perfect 50/50 split.

August 2021 - SMS |
emfluence has released its first version of SMS, with more to come. Similar to the compose process for sending emails, clients with SMS enabled in their accounts can now text manual bulk sends to groups of contacts with saved mobile numbers in the platform. You can also search for previously sent messages and keep track of responses to your texts in the SMS Inbox. If you are interested in enabling SMS in your account, reach out to support@emfluence.com (some costs do apply).
![]() |
August 2021 - Conditional Content Operators |
We've added both "In" and "Not In" to Conditional Content. Now you can query values being included or not included in a list of specified values (such as a list of names). Those that match will get the content selected, everyone else will get the alternate content.
![]() |
August 2021 - Update Default Contact Score |
When you create custom content score models in emfluence, you have the ability to force an update to re-score contacts on demand. We've now added that feature to the Default Scoring Model as well. Clicking into settings will now allow you to access the Update Scores option without needing to save a separate scoring model.
![]() |
July 2021 - Else Statement for Conditional Content |
Conditional Content now includes an Else statement. This allows you to create an "If/Then" statement and add content to an email or landing page for certain contacts based on your logic and now provide alternate content for those who don't match the query. This allows you to show some contacts different content on a single send without the need to assign content blocks.

July 2021 - Recipients Download Report |
The Date Sent column, which is available in the Recipients Report on the Summary Page of a sent email within the platform, is now included in the Download of that report along with the other metrics.

June 2021 - Conditional Content |

June 2021 - Contact Scoring for Webpages |
Contact Scoring allows you to set base scores for activities within the emfluence Marketing Platform (email views and clicks, landing page conversions, surveys, etc.). If you have website tracking enabled on your website, you can also set scores based on pages visited. The newly-released Advanced Settings allows you to set more specific rules for certain pages you either want to emphasize (such as a sales page or blog entry) or de-emphasize (such as a careers page).

![]() |
May 2021 - Instagram |
Instagram in emfluence is finally here! After being one of our most requested features, Instagram is now available along with Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. You can connect and give access to any Instagram Business Account the same way you verified your other social accounts.
![]() |
May 2021 - Sending Domains |
If you've been in your account settings recently, you may have noticed a new tab for Sending Domains. These are the domains that have been verified for use in your account. You may have also noticed when typing in a from address, the platform will suggest a domain for you. It's looking for the list of domains verified in the account and helping you choose one.
Misspelled or unverified domains often cause deliverability issues, so to avoid that, emfluence will soon turn on verification – meaning any emails using a domain not in your list will fail to send.
We would also like to make sure all domains are properly authenticated. If you've received a notification about a domain that is not properly authenticated, or you believe you may have one you wish to use, please reach out to support@emfluence.com.

May 2021 - Branded Subdomain Dropdown |
Can't remember your branded subdomain you set up to use within the emfluence Marketing Platform? Now, we'll give you a list of subdomains set up to use with your account. You can select from the dropdown and continue to type out the page's full individual URL.

April 2021 - Unpublish Workflows |
Finished with your workflow? Need to turn it off? You can now find an Unpublish Button on your workflow. The current state of your workflow will be turned into a draft (meaning you will lose any existing drafts) and your published version will be deleted. Pending recipients for active emails will remain queued unless you check the "Also Pause Emails" box.
![]() |
March 2021 - Embedded Images in Email |
emfluence has rolled out the ability to embed images in email. Embeddng images allows them to load by default in the inbox (rather than requiring the recipient to download). However, it will also increase the HTML size of your emails and affect emfluence's ability to track open conversions. For more information click here. Please note, this is an account setting, so you will need to request access by contacting support@emfluence.com.
![]() |
March 2021 - Pending Recipients |
Now, like on automated emails, you can find Pending Recipients on the Summary page of manual emails. If you are throttling your send, or have paused it, this will show the remaining list of recipients who haven't yet been sent the email.
![]() |
March 2021 - Embed Video in Landing Pages |
You can always add video embed code via the HTML Element. However, we've added a couple of easy video elements on the Drag and Drop editor on Landing Pages for YouTube and Vimeo. January 2021 - Reload Contact Preview |
On the Preview step of building an email, you have the ability to "preview as" other contacts. This is especially helpful when testing to ensure variable data works as you expect. Next to the Reset button, which removes the selected contact from preview, we've added a Reload button. If you are editing a contact in another window, this will allow you to reload with the freshly-saved information rather than having to remove them and search again.

November 2020 - Landing Page Embed Code Updated |

November 2020 - Black Entry Options on Landing Page Forms |
Previously, default functionality on an emfluence form was to save all values on an entry, regardless whether the entires had values or were blank. The new update, by default ignores blank values if the field on the contact record contains data (preventing a contact from wiping out existing data by leaving that field blank. However, you can overwrite the option to allow for the blank values to be saved if you wish on the Process Response options of our Response Page. NOTE: The new default is only set going forward, any forms created before this date continue to have their original setting of allowing blank values to save.

August 2020 - Suppressed in Group Column |
A sortable Suppressed in Group column has been added to search results within a group, allowing you to find what contacts have opted out that group (but may still be active contacts in the system).

August 2020 - Exit Conditions in Workflows |
You can now set criteria within a workflow that will pull contacts out whenever they match your Exit Conditions criteria no matter where in the workflow the contact is when they match. The query criteria works similarly to the inputs in Query Builder and Decisions. The Exit Condition will keep a record of contacts removed, and you have the option to also automatically add those contacts to a group.

April 2020 - Transactional Email Limits |
The threshold for transactional emails was intentionally set low to prevent the inadvertent use of the transactional account for marketing related communications. Based on customer feedback, we increased the threshold of transactional emails to 1,000 contacts per call.

Saving your newly created landing page as a Theme allows you to reuse that design without having to start from scratch. Themes will show up in the Drag and Drop editor, whereas Templates will continue to display under the Template option. To save your landing page as a theme, select Manage Themes in the left-hand navigation on the Pages main page and check the box of any page you want to be a theme.

March 2020 - Landing Page Drag & Drop Editor |
Creating landing pages is now easier than ever with a Drag and Drop editor. As on the email builder, the drag and drop features allow you to fully customize landing pages without code. Even better, you can now save your landing page as a theme.
When creating a new page, you have three options:
- Template is the traditional editor that allows you to create a new page or work from an existing template.
- Drag and Drop lets you create a new page using the drag and drop editor or using an existing theme.
- Paste in Code. This option presents a blank page where you can paste your own code.
As with emails, the Drag & Drop Editor will allow you easily drag elements onto your page. The Page Drag and Drop Editor also offers multiple options for responsiveness, allowing you to control how you page loads on different sized screens. Learn more about the editor by watching this video.

January 2020 - Webhooks |
Most CRMs retrieve data from the emfluence Marketing Platform on a set schedule. For business issues that are more time-sensitive, such as a sales lead, webhooks may be the better option. Webhooks proactively notify your CRM when a specified action takes place on the emfluence Marketing Platform. To create webhooks for your team or to learn more, please contact Support@emfluence.com.

January 2020 - Advancing Contacts in Workflows |
You can manually advance contacts to a later point in a published workflow. Hover over the group of contacts you wish to advance and click on the green arrow icon (this will not appear in draft state). In the pop-up, you can choose to advance contacts to any destination within your wokflow. NOTE: Normal delays will still be enforced.

November, 2019 - Website Tracking in Query Builder |

November, 2019 - Link & Image Checker |
Clicking the Chek Links & Images box on the Preview step will allow you to find and check all your links and images for any potential errors. Clicking on the examples will provide information about each (as well as highlight them in your image copy. This will allow you to find buttons without links, possibly malformed or missing links, and images missing Alt text. Alt tags are critical for customers and prospects who may have visual impairment. To make it easier on you and your readers, the emfluence Marketing Platform can run a quick scan of all of your images and highlight any that may be missing alt text. For more on ADA compliance, see Natalie's blog here.

September, 2019 - Preheaders |
Savvy marketers know that creative preheaders -- the additional text near or below the subject line -- can significantly increase open rates. For those clients who want a preheader to only appear in the preview pane of an email, and not have it display in the email copy at the top, emfluence has added a secondary preheader line. If your email template has an existing preheader section, you can continue to use that as well, or use both. NOTE: If you do use both in the same email make sure your copy is long enough so both don't show up in the preview or alter the text in the preheader section so you aren't repeating the same words.

September, 2019 - Fallback Values for Variables |
When using variable data you now have the opportunity to assign a fallback variable for everyone in your recipient list whose value is blank. This will only fill-in the value on the one send (rather than permanently overwrite their record which you can do using the Bulk Update tool). After choosing your variable, simply fill-in the Fallback Value.

September, 2019 - Manually Add Contacts to Automated Email |
There may be scenarios where you need to add an individual email address to an automated email rather than adding them to the group feeding an email. In one example, a marketing director added more emails to the end of a workflow. She wanted newer customers to receive those messages, but not the entire series. In this case, we can add an individual contact (or list of contacts) to an automated email by going into Contacts, selecting the user(s), and then choose which automated email to add them to in the modal.

April, 2019 - Query Builder Additions |
We recently added two new selection criteria to the Query Builder: Date Modified and Does Not Contain. The Date Modified field allows users to search for records that were modified before, after, or on a specific date. This is particularly helpful if your team uses an API or updates a record only when there is a change – for example, when a status changes from Prospect to Customer. The Does Not Contain operator is exactly what it sounds like. The query identifies records that "do not contain" a specific value. For numeric fields, you can also now search for numbers that are either Even or Odd.

September, 2018 - GDPR Compliance |
We have made modifications to how we handle data so that you can comply with a request from an EU citizen to delete their data and still have your reporting show accurate info for trackable activites in aggregate. Just delete the contact record as you normally would and the rest will be automatically handled for you. Another of the items we rolled out this month was the ability to add a Cookie Notice to surveys. This is as simple as checking a box in survey options that will prompt a survey taker to agree or not agree to being tracked.

This handy feature is a huge time saver if you’re looking to duplicate complex Workflows or running multiple campaigns with the same Workflow layout (say, that PPC campaign followup or an abandoned cart series). Check out the option for “placeholders only,” too. You can now build the Workflow layout first and add in Emails and Groups later. New emails can now also be created without leaving the workflow.

The new Website Tracking feature allows you to track Contact traffic on your website or websites (yes, you can add more than one). To get started, navigate to Campaigns and select Website Tracking from the dropdown menu. Set up is a simple, four-step process (here's how) followed by a quick installation of JavaScript on your site(s). Once your site (or sites) is registered, the emfluence Marketing Platform pulls back actionable data on how your Contacts are engaging with your website. You’ll be able to see how your Contacts got to your site, and once there, how they interacted with it. You can also set a tracking duration (amount of time between visits before the contact will stop being tracked) or session duration (amount of time between visits before a new session is created) to customize the data based on your company’s objectives.

We’ve made tracking—and not tracking—survey responses much easier. By default, surveys will track who responds to them, and responses will be connected to that person’s contact record as long as the survey is sent in an email through our system. If you want to send surveys and collect anonymous responses, that’s as easy as clicking the check box on the survey page.

July, 2017 - Workflow Decisions |
Automated Workflows have new options for targeted emails in the emfluence Marketing Platform. Say hello to Workflow Decisions! As you build out your automated email campaigns, you can now add the option to split your contacts into new email groups based on actions (or inactions) taken by the recipient. These options can be based on clicks (or no clicks), views (or no views), or custom decisions matching a query. With this addition, you can create complex automated email campaigns that lead to desired actions or nurture contacts based on where they are in the engagement cycle with your brand. In short, you could build a campaign starting from a single group that pushes an offer to people who don’t engage with your first email and a different offer to people who do engage. Find more on Workflow Decisions here.

June, 2017 - Transactional Email Reporting |
Although you can only send transactional emails over the API, you can now find transactional reporting inside your account on the transactional tab within the Message section. Transactional email reports can be downloaded as a separate automated report, or you can add them to your existing reports. If you add them to an existing report, transactional emails will show on your report in their own section, just like automated messages. You can add an additional layer of reporting to your transactional emails by dividing them into types (e.g., shipping confirmation, purchase confirmation, cart reminders), which will then allow you to see your email reports based on the types of emails you’re sending.

June, 2017 - Contacts Growth Reporting |

May, 2017 - Size Notifications |
Since that’s way too many image sizes for any marketer to be expected to remember, this month’s features update starts with the addition of a helpful tip under New Social post. Now when you go to share a link or photo on the emfluence Marketing Platform, you can hover over the info icon to get guidelines on the suggested link share image size for each platform.
We’ve also made a small but helpful addition this month to our email messages. As you’re previewing your emails, you can now see the HTML size (minus images) before you send. Calculating the KB size of your emails before you send them can help your emails land in more inboxes. As the info box suggests, you’ll want to keep your email size under 100KB to avoid deliverability issues.

April, 2017 - Reporting Updates |
You’ll see in the new navigation that you can build reports based on Campaigns, Workflows, and Users, by date range, or by the type of post. Let’s say you wanted to create a monthly report based on all your activity. You can select Current Month from the drop down, or you can select options like Previous Month or Previous Quarter. You can also select custom dates. Using the Filter By section, you could also create reports based on your activity. That means you could have a custom report for your social media posts, a custom report for your emails, and a custom report for your landing page conversions. Similarly, you could create reports based on the successes of your campaigns or based on your users.
Once you’ve created the reports you want to receive on a regular basis, you can View Report, Email Report, or Save Report. If you have a report you would like to view on a regular basis, you can opt to save the report for future viewing here. You can also select the option to email a report, which will allow you to send the report to yourself or to a team member right away (whether or not they use the platform). If you choose to save the report, you will have the option to schedule an email of that report. Just choose the email recipients you wish to send the email to, edit the report title so that it’s clear what you’re sending them, and then set the frequency of your send

March, 2017 - Contact Details |
Now when you are viewing the Contact Details of an individual contact record, all groups which that contact is a member of will migrate to the top of the list. You will also see a new search bar allowing you to search the column for other groups which you may want to add that contact. It’s a small change, but we hope it will save our clients time in adding, removing, or editing a contact’s group membership.

March, 2017 - Email Reporting |
Going beyond clicks and opens, Contact Field Reporting introduces the ability to drill down on the detail metrics of your email campaigns. Located underneath the Reports tab alongside Group, Domain and Device Reports, Contact Field Reporting is based on the individual contact fields you’re already storing on your contact records. Once you toggle into the Reports section on a sent email, you can begin to view engagement based on the fields that matter most to you. These reports can be based on default fields (like City or State) or Custom Fields (such as an individual store code or sales rep)—allowing you to build a report that will show you which sales rep has the most engaged followers or which store has the most clickthroughs to an offer.
Bounce Reporting is also new to the Reports tab on your Message Summary for sent emails. This report gives you visibility into the number of hard or soft bounces you had for each email. This is a great report to review after each sent email, as it can give you insight into the overall health of your email list—if you have a large number of soft bounces or an unusual proportion of hard bounces, it can be an indicator that it’s time to do a list clean up and/or a permission campaign.
You may have noticed for manual sends you have a new report available. Along with Domain, Group, Device, Contact Field, and Bounce reporting you can now view data on the open rates of an email over time. For up to 90 days after the email was sent, Views Over Time Reporting will show you an hourly breakdown of an email’s views. You can shorten or lengthen the time shown on the bar graph by using the orange sliders on the bottom of the scale. This update will help you better determine the life of a given email, and eventually, the actual open rate rather than the initial open rate of the email.

January, 2017 - Survey Skip Logic |
Survey Skip Logic is designed to help you create a custom experience for each survey taker, thus allowing you to gather more actionable data about your audience’s preferences and improve one-to-one messaging with your contacts. Survey Skip Logic works by giving you the option to build in a hidden step to your surveys. Depending on what information you hope to gather, you can use the hidden step to determine what your survey taker sees next. For example, if you want a survey taker who selects Choice A to see a follow up set of questions that only relate to that choice, you can use Survey Skip Logic to build in that otherwise hidden set of questions. Similarly, if a survey taker selects an answer that makes the next set of questions irrelevant, you can use Survey Skip Logic to allow that responder to skip forward to the next applicable question (or the end of the survey).
Skip Logic can be used on options-based questions within the emfluence Marketing Platform, including Multiple Choice (Single Answer), Rating Scale (with a single row), and Matrix (with a single row). However, to avoid any Skip Logic conflicts that could create chaos for your survey takers, Skip Logic can only be applied to one question on a page. Survey Anti-Spam Security & Protection The latest release includes additional spam protection to help you ensure that your survey takers are real people (and not robots). These security features will catch bots and spammers thanks to the addition of a spam trap honeypot, which is designed to find and throw out irrelevant spam data filled out by machines.

- We have added Hidden Fields to the form builder in this release, which means you can now gather information without requiring the submitter to input the information for you. Hidden Fields are ideal for prepopulating fields for everyone who fills out the same form (to capture event attendance or lead source) or for hiding the email address field that is required on all forms.

December, 2016 - Contact (Lead) Scoring |
With Contact Scoring you can search contacts based on their individual score as well as edit how that score is calculated. In Query Builder you can now search for contacts with the highest Contact Scores, search for scores in a set range, or target contacts with a specific score. As with other queries, you can set up Dynamic Groups to reach out to contacts based on their Contact Score. Through the Options menu you can customize the scoring rules for Emails, Pages, and Surveys. For each, you can define the individual score as well as the historical range to use in the calculation of the Contact Score.

July, 2016 - Workflows Update |
You now have the ability to create and save placeholder draft emails in Workflows similar to adding email drafts in the Calendar. This new update also gives you the power to create both static and dynamic groups in your Workflow. No more jumping back-and-forth into the Contacts section to make the new groups needed for your automated campaigns. Now you can plan out an entire automated campaign, even if you don't have all the individual pieces finished just yet.

June, 2016 - TLS |
The Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption protocol is now enabled on email messages sent through the emfluence Marketing Platform. June, 2016 - Introducing Workflows |
Located in the Campaigns section of the emfluence Marketing Platform, you can now use the Workflow Canvas to lay out and control the flow of your nurture, lead, or drip series. Workflows will keep track of your one-step autoresponders as well. By dragging groups and automated emails on to the Canvas, you can design your campaign while seeing it visually represented in front of your eyes. As you connect each element you will see the time delay displayed between each step of your series. The first time you create a new Workflow you will be given a brief walkthrough explaining each piece of the canvas and the steps to take in order to create your new automated series.

May, 2016 - Query Builder |
Replacing the Advanced Contact Search, Query Builder allows you to build your own queries.
To help get you started with Query Builder, we've stocked it with a handful of example queries including birthday searches, active and inactive searches, location searches (by country, state, or zip code), and domain-specific searches. You can edit these to match your needs. You also have the ability to create your own queries from scratch. Once finished, you can save your queries as either traditional groups (AKA Static Groups) or Dynamic Groups.

May, 2016 - Dynamic Groups |
Query Builder allows users to create their own Dynamic Groups. Members of Dynamic Groups are your contacts that currently match the criteria of its query. These might be contacts whose birthday is today, whose anniversary is this month, or whose scheduled appointment is in 7 days.
Whereas a Static Group is only updated when you manually add/remove contacts, a Dynamic Group is always up to date based on the criteria of its query. You can use Dynamic Groups for automated birthday messages, reminders, and to segment your lists into specific content based on the information on the contact record.

February, 2016 - Add Automated Emails to Campaigns |
In addition to Manual Emails, Social Posts and Landing Pages, you can now add your Automated Emails to Campaigns for Reporting across all channels. In the Reports section, when you filter by a Campaign, you'll see any Automated Emails that are part of your Campaign. When you filter by date, the Report will only show the results for that Automated Email during that date range as well. Start adding Automated Emails to Campaigns in the Campaigns Section and check out your results from a particular month or alongside a cross-channel campaign in Reports.

December, 2015 - New Email Alerts for Surveys |
One of our most requested features this year was for a way to be alerted of completed surveys. You ask, we deliver!
Now, when you create a survey, in the Options tab, you can add email response processing, just like you can in Forms,
so that when someone completes your survey, the results will be emailed to the address you choose.
(You can even customize the subject line of the email alert.)
This makes it easy to keep track of responses, but also allows for easy sharing with colleagues whether or not they have a login to your emfluence account.

November, 2015 - Feature Upgrade: Download pURL Traffic & Conversions |
We've been working on a lot of pURL campaigns lately, with personalized URLs sent via direct mail to prospects to entice them to opt in
for more information. It became obvious that we needed to beef up our landing page report download a bit and add the ability to see
not just conversions, but for pURLS, the contacts who visited their personalized page.
Now, when you use pURLS for an emfluence Landing Page, you can download the visitors by contact. (You can still download form conversions, too.)

October, 2015 - New Feature: Email Template Builder |
One of the many benefits of the emfluence Marketing Platform are the custom-branded templates for your brand, loaded in your account for easy, beautiful emails. We can help make templates that are mobile-responsive, integrate data sources (like what products or blog posts are new on your site) and more!
Over the past couple of years, more and more of our clients have asked to "take the reins" and code their own email templates. From small changes -- like a change of address for your footer or a tweak to your default pre-header -- to true "blank slate" design, marketers that are familiar with HTML code have asked to have full control.
Get your in-line CSS ready: you can now request access to Template Builder for your emfluence Marketing Platform account!
You can start with one of our "starter templates" and make edits or you can start from scratch. Save and activate templates to use them for your email campaigns. Check out the full guide to Template Builder in the Help section, here >>
We'll be migrating your existing templates into the Template Builder for easier edits in the next few weeks. Meanwhile, if you're ready to try out your own creations, reply to support@emfluence.com to request Template Builder access for your account.

June, 2015 - New Report: Clicks by Device |
You may have already seen your Device Report for sent messages. Now, you'll be able to see the device report for Opens and for Clicks.
As the email marketing world touts mobile open rates, it’s more important than ever to know where your subscribers are not just opening but actually engaging with your emails. Take a peek at your own device report and compare to the mobile benchmarks in Jessica's recent blog post.

May, 2015 - Engagement Score Now in Beta |
As a small step 1 toward lead scoring and contact prioritization, we've added an Engagement Score to your contact records. When you dive into a contact detail page, near the date added (at the top), you'll see that contact's engagement score.
Right now, the score is the sum of positive engagement and negative engagement in the last 12 months. A view is 1 point, forward and shares are 2 points and clicks are worth 4 points. Bounces are worth -2, and unsubscribes or complaints are -8. In future versions, you'll be able to set your own values to score engagement.

April, 2015 - Expanded Custom Fields and Content Variables |
After listening to client requests, we've upgraded your custom fields in a big way. We've added the ability to create 5 more custom fields, giving all standard Platform accounts 25 total customizable data points about your contacts. (This is in addition to your 17 standard fields like First Name, etc.)
Not only that, ALL of your fields now have the option to be given a type. Your original 20 fields are text fields with 400 characters by default.
You can make 5 new fields and choose from 5 data types: text, numeric, money, date and true/false.
Enterprise Platform users -- those with a database of more than 100,000 contacts -- will be able to expand to up to 250 fields for maximum data storage within their emfluence account. Standard accounts can be expanded for up to 250 custom fields upon request; please reach out to your Account Manager for more information.
Ready to add more fields and fill them up with juicy data about your contacts? Check out the quick 3-step process to adding a new custom field -- and info on how to update an existing custom field -- on the Custom Fields page in the Help Section. That page also lists the available data types and examples of what each can be used for.
We also expanded the number of Content Variables you can assign from 3 to 10.

April, 2015 - New Integration of Litmus for Pre-Flight |
We're very excited to announce a big upgrade to your Pre-Flight testing! Thanks to a new partnership with Litmus, you'll now see 41 different desktop, web-based and mobile email renderings and 14 spam filters, doubling what you've had in the past.
New Spam Filters include:
|
Plus, the Latest Version Email Renderings for:
|
As an added bonus, the inbox renderings will be faster.. much faster. You'll start to see results back in less than 60 seconds. Best way to explain is to see it for yourself.
To send a Pre-Flight check of your email, Click on Pre-Flight in the Preview/Compose step of composing an email. Click the orange button to send a Pre-Flight Check.
Your Email Renderings and Spam Filter results will start coming back immediately. They'll automatically refresh until all results are back. If your email fails one or more spam filters you'll see an orange warning symbol next to the tab label. We recommend that you try to tweak your copy or text-to-image ratio to pass all filters before you send, if you can.

March, 2015 - Sortable Reports |
In the Reports section, you can sort your email, social and pages reports by results. For example, when you click the Opens column header, the results will sort by highest open rate to lowest. January, 2015 - Date Contact was Added to Group |
This is one we know a few users will be eager to see! Every so often, we hear a request to see the date a contact was added to a specific Group on the Groups pages. Now you can!
When you click on a Group to view the Contacts in it, you'll now see the date "Added" -- this is the date the Contact was first added to the system -- and the date "Added to Group," which is the date that Contact was first added to that Group.
This information is also now available when you download your results to Excel. Be sure to select "Date Added" as a field you want to export and both the Added and Added to Group dates will be included.

December, 2014 - Pause Automated Messages |
You can now pause automated messages. This new feature is by request of a few of our users who use Automated Messages often. You can still fully deactivate or turn off automated messages, but we've added the option to simply pause the campaign if you need to make content or schedule changes.
Pausing an automated message keeps the Group tied to the campaign, which allows new Group members to still get the email when it's reactivated. For example, if you want to update the copy in your Welcome, you'll still want to queue up those that sign-up while you're working on it, so they'll get the welcome once it's reactivated. You can use the new Pause feature when:
- You want to change the subject, body copy, images, offer or expiration dates in your email.
- You want to change the schedule, i.e. deploy it after 2 weeks instead of after 1 week.
- You want to keep the Group tied to the email and collect new pending recipients while it's paused.
Deactivating the email turns the automated message completely off and clears ties to your Group. You may want to completely deactivate your email if:
- You need to import contacts into a Group that is tied to an automated message but you do not want any new contacts on that list to receive the email.
- With deactivation, you can still choose to re-assign your Automated Message to the same Group as before.
When you reactivate a paused or deactivated email, if you had recipients who were "pending" in that Group, meaning they were scheduled to receive the email before, you can still leave them pending or clear that queue. (That works the same as before.)

November, 2014 - Facebook Post Get a Character Increase |
Now, when you post to Facebook from the emfluence Platform, you'll have 2,000 characters (instead of 420 before). This leaves room for employee spotlights or stories that you can still schedule and post through your emfluence account.

November, 2014 - Click-to-View Ratio Now Highlighted in Results Summary |
Email marketers love to talk about their open rate (views) or clicks, but an important metric for how good your email actually is may be getting skipped over: clicks-to-views, meaning of those that opened, how many clicked? Now, you'll see this metric highlighted with your other at-a-glance metrics, right between opens and clicks and bounces and suppressions. Industry average CTV or CTO rate is around 15%.

September, 2014 - Add/Remove/Delete Selected Records is Back |
We heard from many of you after our recent “Group Assignments” update, that you missed the ability to select and add/remove Contacts individually, so that feature is back! Check out the Actions menu back at the top of your Contacts results lists.

September, 2014 - Archive Groups & Protected Groups |
Archive Your Old Groups You can always delete Groups you don’t need (and still keep the contacts in those Groups as needed), but we had a number of clients request that they simply be “archived” so that they’ll always have a record of the Group without having to see it in a big long list of Groups in their account. We listened: you can now archive Groups! As long as they’re not Protected. Protected Groups are those that are System Groups (like All, Held and Suppressed), those that are dynamically created based on contact data (like those who have a Birthday today) and Groups that have Auto-responders tied to them. This is so you can’t accidentally archive something that’s in use.

September, 2014 - Import History & Pending Import Reports |
When you hover over the Contacts icon in the top navigation, you’ll see a new item in the fly-out menu: Import History. This is a record of the last 90 days of imported contact lists and any pending imports. The report shows Group counts before and after each import, as well as a count of how many new Contacts were added and how many existing Contacts were updated.

September, 2014 - Surveys & Forms Preview in Landing Page ‘Compose’ |
A small upgrade with a big visual impact: now, when you drop surveys or forms into your landing pages when composing, you’ll see a preview of the survey or form as it will likely look on the live page (instead of the small placeholder icon before). It will be slightly grayed out, indicating that you can’t edit the survey or form from this page. (You have to go to the survey or form itself to edit it.) Hopefully this is a more useful preview as your creating pages!

September, 2014 - Updated Editor Allows you to “Draw” Tables |
We’ve upgraded the Editor — we use a 3rd party called CKEditor — to their latest release/version. The most noticeable improvement is that now, when you click the icon to insert a table, you’ll select the number of rows and columns by “drawing” it on a grid to insert it.

September, 2014 - Referring Email Added to Landing Page Report Download |
If you’ve used the Landing Page Generator, you’ve probably poked around in the reporting for your pages. The report breaks down page traffic by referral source, including emails from emfluence, traffic directed from another website or “direct traffic” just like in Google Analytics. (Hey, we try not to reinvent the wheel.)

September, 2014 - Device Reporting on the Message Summary page |
Designing email for mobile devices is a hot topic these days. (Check out posts on the emfluence blog about mobile-friendly email design.) But do you know how much of your email list actually opens on mobile devices? Now you can. On the Message Summary page, where you can review results from a Sent email, you’ll see a new results tab labeled “Devices.” The report tells you what percent of your tracked opens were viewed on a mobile device.

August, 2014 - New Reporting Feature: See Message Results by Group |
When you send to multiple groups, the Platform automatically de-dupes those groups for you and aggregates the results on the Message Summary page. After our August 2014 feature update, you’ll be able to drill down into the results by Group, similar to how the Domain report works.

July, 2014 - Connect your Google Analytics account to the Platform |
As promised at the 2014 User Conference, we’ve rolled out a Google Analytics integration for your Platform “Home” dashboard. From here, you’ll be able to see your website traffic overlaid with your email and social media message post timing. This is the next step in correlating your digital marketing campaigns to your website traffic and even sales.

June, 2014 - Improvement to List Import |
Now, you can import a file and work on something else in the Platform at the same time, with a new feature that allows imports that will take longer than a few seconds to process in the background. Your imported files will show as “pending” instead of immediately complete and will alert you by email when they’re done.

June, 2014 - Re-marketing in one click! |
Do you ever want to target those who received an email but didn’t open or click? A few weeks ago, we rolled out a “Phase I” re-marketing tool that made it easy. You can search from the Results tab in your sent Message Summary which contacts did or didn’t open, click, bounce, etc. Now you can create a new group or add these results to an existing group in a quick click! (No more downloading to import as a new group.)

June, 2014 - New emfluence Marketing Platform API - Beta Release |
At our annual User Conference this year, we released a beta version of our formalized API. In the past, clients have been able to successfully exchange data between the emfluence Marketing Platform and third party systems (including home grown tools) via web services, HTTP post or by scheduled data syncs. The formalized API gives clients and developers a clear path for integration without involvement from emfluence technicians.
The API enables on-demand exchange of data to and from the emfluence Marketing Platform. That means that integrations with 3rd party applications like SalesForce and Microsoft CRM are greatly simplified. In this beta version, clients can request an API key from their Account Manager and begin exploring connections to their data. When the beta (v0) period expires, all clients can have access to the API. At that time the beta version will be deprecated for the first full release.
Over 50 endpoints are currently available with more on the way based on client demand. Complete documentation is available at http://apidocs.emailer.emfluence.com. The documentation site has a functioning console that will allow developers to run test calls provided they have an active API key.

May, 2014 - CSS now accessible in Landing Pages |
We’ve had a few design-savvy clients ask us for more control over the look and feel of their landing pages and landing page templates. We listened! You can now dive into and edit the CSS (cascading style sheets) of your landing pages in the Platform. Not sure what we mean? That’s ok, the custom-branded templates are your best way to stay on brand. CSS is mostly for advanced designers.

May, 2014 - Survey Questions get a little help |
Now when you create a new question for a Survey in the emfluence Platform, you’ll see a snapshot of a sample question to help determine if you’ve got the right question type. Just a little helper, thanks to some feedback we’d heard from users who have been digging into the survey tools.

May, 2014 - Google Analytics Tracking on email links improves with user feedback |
We love hearing from our users when we roll out a new feature! We had a few Google Analytics fanatics tell us how they needed the new email link tracking to work and we’ve already made a few improvements based on feedback. You can now add Content and Term to your UTM tracking (both are optional).

May, 2014 - Track Twitter Favorites |
When you’re tracking Twitter metrics like clicks and Retweets, you’ll now be able to track Favorites as well. You’ll see this line up with “Likes” for Facebook and LinkedIn as a metric that tracks a one-click engagement of approval from your fans.

April, 2014 - Preview Landing Pages before they go live |
In the Landing Page Generator, you’ve got a new easy way to preview a page as it will look before you activate it. Plus, the magnifying glass at the top of the page will now preview active or inactive pages as well. Be sure you don’t share your preview link, though. You’ll always want to share the real URL of your page or insert a link to a page using the dropdown menu of active pages.

March 7, 2014 - Copy Social Media Messages |
You can now copy a draft or sent social post to post either on another social channel or to tweak the post and schedule it for another time/day. This will make it a lot faster to create cross-channel, planned campaigns highlighting your great content!

March 7, 2014 - Simplified Google Analytics Tracking |
If you use Google Analytics for tracking traffic on your website, you'll be happy to know that we simplified the process for adding UTM parameters to your email campaigns.
Under the required Title and Subject Line in the Compose step, you can check the box to Add Google Analytics UTM strings to your links. With this feature, any time an email campaign sends traffic to your website, Google Analytics can track that campaign as the source of the traffic, giving your email campaigns credit for the visits they entice.

February 12, 2014 - Layouts in the Editor |
Hot on the heels of our January announcement of new features (audience dashboard, approval alerts and more), we're excited to share that you have new email layout guides available in your emfluence account. With one-click, Layouts fit inside your custom-branded email templates, designed to help you lay out the body of your emails better (without the help of an HTML programmer).

January 20, 2014 - Facebook Automatic Re-verification |
If you're using the emfluence Platform to post to Facebook, you may have noticed that verification expires after a period of 30-45 days. This is normal for Facebook, but meant that sometimes those posts you schedule for the future would fail because you need to re-verify.
Now, when you schedule a Facebook post, the Platform will ask you to re-verify if it's likely the post occurs after your current authentication "token" will expire. It's a quick process and helps your posts go out on time, as planned!
NOTE: You'll notice that all Facebook accounts will ask to be re-verified the next time you login. After that, you'll most likely not have to re-verify more than once a month.

January 20, 2014 - Approval Alert Emails |
Starting on 1/20/14, when an email you're working on is either approved or an approver has rejected it, you'll receive an email alert, so you can login and take action.

January 20, 2014 - Updated Editor |
We've updated the Editor in the email, landing page and content creation sections. It may look (almost) the same, but there are some noteworthy improvements:

- When editing the HTML, you'll see color-coded HTML for easy editing and skimming.
- Compatible with Internet Explorer 11

December 11, 2013 - Social Media Reporting for All Posts |
You can now see engagement numbers for all messages posted to the social media profiles and pages authenticated in your Platform account, including those that aren't posted from the Platform! So, when you're live-tweeting from an event, Retweeting an article, or having a conversation, you can see the same metrics for those posts as for the ones you plan from within your emfluence account. It's important to point out, though, that if you don't use the emfl.us shortener, we can't help track your link clicks, so posting pre-meditated content from the Platform is still your best bet!
Messages that aren't posted through the Platform are not synced by default.

December 11, 2013 - New Social Media Metric: Audience |

September 20, 2013 - Pre-Flight Check Upgrade |
We've updated the Pre-Flight email rendering tool in the emfluence Marketing Platform and you'll now see 32 full renderings, including 8 mobile! Previously, you may have seen mobile device email renderings but were not able to see full-sized results when clicking on the thumbnail. You can now view all mobile device renderings of your message in full-screen mode.
Click on one of the mobile device email renderings, such as the iPhone iOS 5, and a new browser tab will open which shows you what your message will look like on the iPhone screen.
If you've been tracking your device level reporting (which now shows results prior to June of this year!), you'll have a good idea of what devices and browsers your audience uses to read your emails. Use the Pre-Flight tool to make sure your message looks perfect to all of your recipients, no matter where they're viewing it!
