Email Authentication Methods
Different inboxes may use DKIM or SPF (or a combination of the two) to determine if your email is being sent from a reliable source
DKIM (previously called DOMAIN KEYS)
Yahoo!, Gmail, Earthlink and more use DKIM. This is generally considered the most legitimate way to validate email because the client or brand has to set up something in their own website and give the Email Service Provider, a private key that identifies us as valid senders on your behalf. Also, Yahoo! requires DKIM set-up to enroll a domain in their Feedback Loop. Without DKIM you will not be able to track spam complaints from Yahoo! which could hurt your sender reputation at that domain over time.
SPF / SENDER ID
AOL, Hotmail, Gmail and more use SPF verification. SPF validation means that the IP address you're sending from with emfluence is listed as one that is allowed to send email from your website domain. SPF set-up is covered for you by the emfluence Marketing Platform. However, if you wish you can add a SPF record when adding DKIM. SenderID is used rarely these days and you no longer need to worry about a Sender ID record.
