Inserting a Link
You can insert links into both emails and landing pages through the text editor or by adding a link to elements in the drag-and-drop editor such as images and buttons.
Using the text editor, highlight the word or words you want to turn into a link and click the link icon on the editor (this will be the same icon in both Template Builder and when making an email). If you are linking to something outside emfluence (such as your website, blog, or another external page), simply paste the full URL into the pop-up. You can also of course add the URL directly into the code of the email or template. (NOTE: Make sure to include the full URL which should begin with https://).
If you are linking to something within emfluence, you can use one of the options in the dropdown for easy linking. Choose a System Link for something like linking to your unsubscribe page, a view-as-webpage link, forward-to-a-friend, or share. For anchor links (NOTE: Anchor links do not work on most mobile devices), choose that option. For linking to emfluence landing page link or survey link, choose from those options and then pick the individual survey or page you are linking to. NOTE: If you paste in a landing page link manually as a custom link rather than choose from the Landing Page dropdown you will want to add this variable tracking code manually to the end of your URL ?m=$$MessageID (or the variable you are using) which will allow forms on the page to be pre-populated with a contact's data. More about this can be found here.
In the Advanced tab you can set options, such as adding CSS to the Style section to change the color of your link or remove the underline. NOTE: If you want to remove the underline from all links in your email template by default, this can be done by adding some CSS in the head section of the template.
Click OK to insert your link into your message.
The text or image is now a clickable, trackable link. Try to use both graphic and text calls to action in your emails for higher response rates.
After you deployed an email, you can review who clicked on your link on the Message Summary page.
You can do something similar through the button or image settings of drag-and-drop elements by either pasting an external link in the URL field (again, make sure to include the full URL which should begin with https://) or choose the internal link you want to use from the dropdown options.
